They announced Andreas Kasper as the winner of the Glass Structures & Engineering Best Paper Award 2019 for his article “Spontaneous cracking of thermally toughened safety glass. Part three: statistic evaluation of field breakage records and consequences for residual breakage probability”. Dr Kasper was chair of ICG’s TC13 from 2013 to 2017 and has also been a member of TC02 and was employed by St Gobain in Germany.
The winning paper can be accessed via Springer’s formal press release.
This paper belongs to a four-part series of articles on this subject. We invite you to read all parts:“Spontaneous cracking of thermally toughened safety glass. Part one: Properties of nickel sulphide inclusions”, by Andreas Kasper.
“Spontaneous cracking of thermally toughened safety glass. Part two: Nickel sulphide inclusions identified in annealed glass”, by Andreas Kasper, Nho Pyeonglae, and Zheng Yuan.
“Spontaneous cracking of thermally toughened safety glass. Part three: statistic evaluation of field breakage records and consequences for residual breakage probability”, by Andreas Kasper.
“Spontaneous cracking of thermally toughened safety glass. Part four: a case study of isothermal breakages in a building, and conclusions thereof for the heat soak test”, by Andreas Kasper and Frank Rubbert
