IIT Gandhinagar, Tamil Nadu State Archaeology Department and IIT Madras with support of academic and research organization like Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sanghrahalaya, will be conducting a five-day conference cum workshop on ‘History, Science and Technology of South Asian Ceramics’ from 5—9 th January, 2024. Eminent scholars from around the world, and ceramic craftsmen from India will share their work, deliver lectures and carryout hands-on experiments for the participants.
The aims of the conference are:
• Engagement with the most up-to-date research on South Asia Ceramics (pottery) visà-vis the fields of archaeology, ethnography, experimental studies and archaeometry.
• To introduce the main actors in these fields South Asian students and young scholars and training on newer techniques and approaches.
• To discussion on ceramic development trends and archaeometry to interpret the past technology with the help of archaeologists and/or scientists.
Participants
Interested archaeologists (Post-Graduate Students, Research Scholars, Early Career Faculty and Staff) dealing with ceramics are invited from various universities, Institutes and museums housing ceramics of South and Southeast Asia to register for this conference. The participants will be selected based on the brief CV and SOP.
