We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Alexander Sergejevich Abyzov on September 14, 2025. A distinguished theoretical physicist and Senior Research Fellow at the Akhiezer Institute for Theoretical Physics in Ukraine, Abyzov made pioneering contributions to the understanding of dynamic processes in glass-forming systems, including diffusion, viscous flow, relaxation, and crystallization. In recent years, he became a valued collaborator of the CeRTEV research team in Brazil, where his mentorship and generosity left a lasting impact. Over his career, he published more than 100 scientific papers and spoke at over 50 international conferences, with recent influential works appearing in Acta Materialia, Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, Journal of the American Ceramic Society, Scripta Materialia, Entropy, and Journal of Chemical Physics. His ability to bridge theory and practice connected Ukrainian and Brazilian glass science communities and inspired a new generation of researchers.

Beyond his scientific brilliance, Alex will be remembered for his kindness, humility, and warmth. The glass science community honors his legacy and mourns the loss of a brilliant mind and cherished colleague.
