2021 Gottardi Prize

Latest winner announced

The Awards Committee for the Vittorio Gottardi Memorial prize have recently announced the winner of the 2021 competition. She is Dr Emma Barney of the University of Nottingham. UK and describes her interests as follows.

Dr Barney is a prominent member of the Advanced Materials research group in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham and provides an important rôle in advising on the structural analysis of amorphous materials. Her research centres on the structure-property relationships of glasses with an applied focus including mid-infrared optics, bioactive implants and delivery systems, and nuclear waste storage. Her key interest is to investigate the structure of complex multicomponent glasses using modelling methods that are driven by both experimental data and underpinning chemical interactions.
